It was the day of my surgery and I was dreading it. I had just changed into hospital garb and returned to the pre-op surgical room.
The nurse asked if he could remove my sacred wedding ring from my finger, “I will lock it up with your other belongings” she said. I told her that he could take it off and it would be safer with my partner “whom gave him the ring”. I slipped the ring off and handed it to David saying take care of this.

I shift uncomfortably in the ultra sheer hospital gown with my large ass poking out touching the cloth on the holding room table. After what seemed like an eternity a nice masculine women open the drapes and stated she was the DR who would be administering my anesthesia. She explained the procedure and told me that she needed to begin my IV so she could knock me out. After trying in one hand she was unable to begin the IV no matter how much she dug with the needle. She stated well I guess the vein collapsed. She quickly moved to the other hand. She was able to start the IV without to much digging around for the vein. All the while I was chastising her for her affinity for the Chicago Bears, trying to sway her to the light, to the COWBOYS. She told me she and her “husband” are devout sox and bears fan, I am trying to wrap my mind around her being married to a guy…oh well.

When she was done the DR came in and explained the procedure to me stating, I am going to give you a prescription for pain, everyone is different you may experience a lot of pain or none at all, it could last for weeks or days. I secretly hated him at this point and vowed that I would be the lucky one who would experience no pain and if I did it wouldn’t last long. They left stating they would be back as soon as there is an operating room.

More anxiety more picking on me from David. Then the curtain opened and it was the DR, the masculine female DR and another guy. They said it was time. I told David I loved him and off we went. Wheeling me down to corridor, the Masculine DR was on my left side, she patted my arm and told me “goodnight” I saw her inject something into my IV port and before she had finished putting the meds in or I had finished the word goodn….I was gone.

I don’t remember dreaming, I don’t remember any out of body experience and there was no light where I was, looking back those facts are kind of scary to me. Anyway I after what seemed like a minute I woke up with a lady above me checking my IV. She Looked like Kate Jackson so I asked her if she was my angel. She laughed and I told her she looked like Kate and she was my favorite angel “I lied” obviously I am a Jaclyn Smith fan DUH! She smiled and walked away. I looked around and found myself in a circular room with a nurse’s station in the middle. There was my DR, “the devil” looking at me. I tried to mutter to words how did everything go? He didn’t respond to me only looked at me and turned his head down to work on paperwork in front of him…bitch! Then there was a male nurse beside me, He looked familiar maybe we had met at the bars or something when David and I were out. I tried to make small talk but he laughed when I told him I would buy him a drink if I saw him out, He stated “hunny you won’t remember me” Well damn him to and If I see him I will not buy him a drink! I asked when I could go home and he told me they were going to take me to post op and let me have something to drink “COFFEE” I missed my coffee!

After a few minuets they rolled my bed to a brightly lit room where everyone seemed very nice. They helped me into a reclining chair and asked me how I was feeling. I told him get David in the waiting room and GET ME COFFEE! The male nurse told me he would be glad to do both…I loved him! He promptly brought me a cup of coffee and a muffin.

David came in smiling and asking me how I was. I was on my second cup of coffee by then and was feeling weird but ok. The nurse told me I couldn’t leave until I peed. I got up right when they said that and stated I need to pee! The nurse escorted me to the john and I stood there and took care of business. I returned to my chair and another nurse came over with my prescriptions and release forms. She gave my walking papers and the wheelchair was summoned. David escorted me to my locker and helped me get dressed. They told David how to get our ticket validated and to bring the car around. They wheeled me down David pulled the car around and helped me in.

At this point I was scared not knowing if David could remember the way home. I tried to help him navigate however he didn’t need my help he did it all on his own. We stopped at the CVS to get my prescriptions. I remember feeling like I needed to shop. He asked me what I was hungry for and I told him I wanted corndogs! I have no idea why corndogs however in my mind that is what I had to have. He took me home and couldn’t find a parking space near our house so dropped me off in from of our door and went to park the car. The door was ajar so I opened it and stumbled up our spiral staircase to home. David came up and let me in. He situated me on the sofa then went across the street for my corndogs. Next thing I know there were corndogs in front of me. I woofed them down rolled over and slept.

Later that night I woke up, I asked David for a cigarette and my wedding ring. David went to his jeans and low and behold NO RING. He has looked everywhere and hasn’t been able to find it. I have teased him about it and made him feel guilty, but I when I saw it is really bothering him so I stopped.

Fast forward through all the pain and issues, it has been 4 days since my surgery I am still in some pain. The meds help however I am trying not to take them if not absolutely necessary. I need to work and get some things done. In the past few days I have received 150 e-mails requesting my approval on something or the other. I am trying not to respond after taking any meds though.

This past week David has been crucial to my recovery. He has taken care of the house, the animals and has waited on my hand and foot. I loved him before and I love him more now. After going through this with a loved one it makes you happy to have found your life partner.

As for the Ring.... on Monday we will search the car again and call the hospital however if my ring is not found that is ok, David is all I need. I guess you can say he is my Angel.Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-50769911701277572542008-09-01T10:46:00.001-05:002008-09-01T10:46:34.214-05:00Metallica- Enter Sandman

For Senorita Booze Hound

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-19902140860331560292008-09-01T10:24:00.001-05:002008-09-01T10:40:41.870-05:00Senorita BoozehoundIt has been awhile since my partner and I have had the pleasure of hanging with one of our best friends from home, Mrs. Senorita Boozehound! Otherwise known as - txflowerwiltinginnm.blogspot.com

She had meetings in KC all week and she was able to plan ahead and change her flight home to come through Chi Town to see us for a few days.

The weather was perfect 80 and sunny each day Not that we were able to take advantage of it too much! I had it planed in my head how the weekend would turn out and indeed it happened exactly how I planed. The first night was spent drinking at home eating Chicago style pizza catching up until 6:30 in the morning.

We slept in the next day and went to lunch downstairs, then we went to boys town and did the pub crawl until about 1AM. Then as we were saying our goodbyes to people we had met while out, Mrs. S.B went metropolitan on our ass and jumped into the busy street to hail a cab (she was done) we went to the Golden Angel across the street for some much needed food and crashed.

The next day was filled with Hangovers from my partner and SB and once again we got a late start. We went to Navy Pier had lunch and people watched, we came home played a game had a few drinks and crashed. The next day was filled with cooking breakfast and regret that she was leaving.

S.B We Love you - Come back soon!Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-16459504112166899822008-07-01T16:21:00.001-05:002008-07-01T16:21:05.748-05:00Blake Shelton - Home

I love this version!

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-33531154581535775622008-07-01T16:14:00.000-05:002008-07-01T16:16:47.361-05:00Five ThingsIf you read Sportsnutindallas’s blog then you have officially been tagged to talk about your "5 Things". We moved here in July and the summer weather was awesome however we were told to prepare for winter by the locals; however they didn't tell us it was going to be the worst winter in 15 years!
IT SUCKED
We are from Texas, the city of Dallas closes if it snows or sleets and you can hibernate for a couple "snow days" at home with a bottle of wine and the remote!
NOT ANYMORE
My dutiful husband David has decided that he will not drive in Chicago any more the he has to. He has driven a couple times around the neighborhood but honestly he hates driving anyway and with this traffic and the amount of public transportation he really doesn't have too. Because of his decision he had to walk a mile in the snow "up hill" to get to the train station, then a mile to get to his work, all in all he walked about 3 miles a day just for work. Btw as always he looks great with all the exercise!
I on the other hand I had to drive to the office and to visit stores. I am amazed how much snow accumulates on a car overnight! Every morning I faced the task of scraping off the snow and ice that had accumulated and sometimes digging the snow around the car so I could get onto the street. Chicago does a great job in keeping the streets plowed but they push the snow up against your car when you park on the street lots of fun when you’re in dress pants and shoes fun, fun!

The winter here brings gray days that last for months. Everything was gray the sky, the landscape I mean EVERYTHING was gray; it was very depressing, thank god for alcohol!
Last weekend we had visitors from AZ and Dallas; they left their 70 degree temps and braved the 30’s here all for my lover’s birthday! The weather wasn’t too bad until it snowed on Friday, they were happy to see snow, we almost cried! We had a great time with them, mainly bar hoping etc.

They are saying that was the last of the white stuff for a few months. We are eagerly awaiting the sun and fun that summer will offer.Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-91424517474433524872008-03-29T12:35:00.002-05:002008-03-29T12:38:18.224-05:00I'm Still Alive
It's been a few months but I'm back!

As most know I moved to Chicago with my lover in July to assume a new position for a new branch of an established company. In that time I have had my nose to the grindstone trying to pull this off.
My busy season begins in October and lasts through the end of April. I am beginning to breathe a little easier now and am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
Work has not produced the results I wanted however my team and I have made a lot of strides getting things in line with the industry.
Since the move I am 30 lbs heaver, my hair is grayer and it’s falling out fast, not to mention the nagging ulcers that keep encouraging me to eat and drink more. AA and Adkins here I come!

Stay tuned….
Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-75317928308936180542007-10-21T17:18:00.000-05:002008-12-13T01:19:43.358-06:00Young and Beautiful

On Thursday I celebrated my 38th birthday, and yes I do know that is 65 in gay years.
I received an abundance of well wishes from co-workers, loved ones and friends. It was a low-key day compared to last year. My lover through me a costume theme party, the theme was 1969, the year I was born. Most family and friends were in attendance and we partied all night like flower children.

This year when he asked what I wanted? I told him I wanted something low key with just he and I. Maybe a great dinner and desert, He knew that when I was young my mother always made our cakes and pies from scratch and gave us our choice every year on our birthday. So being a wonderful man he decided to do the same. I choose apple pie and left the meal up to him. He made an enchilada casserole and his first homemade scratch apple pie. Both were awesome and meant more to me than anything.

We both belong to a dart team that plays every Thursday so I knew we would be busy that night…BTW we tied the number 1 team from last year 5-5. I won 2 out of my 3 games and threw the winning dart in the team competition, it was awesome and they were PISSED!
Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-52476519207332881792007-10-07T17:13:00.001-05:002007-10-07T17:13:12.415-05:00Dark Road

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-2043690969715149592007-10-07T17:07:00.000-05:002007-10-07T17:14:47.404-05:00Dark RoadThis week I will be flying home to Dallas for work.
This is very bittersweet, My partner and I are very homesick missing our family and friends. At the end of this trip we will both either be completly ready to go home to Chi-Town or really heart broken due to leaving our F&F. You see I am flying there mainly for work but as it turns out we will get to visit our family and friends that we haven't seen in a long time
We will be hanging out with my friend Joe and his lover Tom, I am very happy that V will be flying in from NM (I haven’t seen her in ages) and another good friend Ed just escaped the hell that is Phoenix to move home to Dallas this past week.
Although there are Lot's of things work wise to do I am sure the parting will be on and I will come home hung over. I'll fill you in later....Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-44599818385200841962007-10-07T17:03:00.001-05:002007-10-07T17:03:31.906-05:00Annie Lennox- Why

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-82105935598008484762007-10-07T16:33:00.000-05:002007-10-07T17:02:21.619-05:00WhyDon't judge me for not posting more frequently.
The reasons are varied and although exceptional I guess there is no excuse
This year has been exhausting; I have been working very hard to get ready for our busy season. I am very proud of the team I have assembled and believe we will have a very productive and profitable season. However there are a lot of learning curves out there to face There are also those people who like to think that because I give them latitude that they are the boss.

I have been concentrating on work so much there hasn't been much of a home life in the past few weeks. I will be making it up to my partner for years to come. He talked me into being a substitute on the dart league. My partner just went to his sisters wedding in Oxnard CA and left me to compete in our first league game alone :-(
Well we lost to our sister team 6-4. BTW ours is a new team with several that haven't ever played on a dart league like myself. Our sister team completed last year in the top 2. However the last game was for cash and my dart partner and I won and split the pot. We then played a double elimination tournament for cash out of 6 teams again my dart partner and I were undefeated and won the pot..Not much money my split of $15 bucks didn't cover the round I bought. Oh well I promise to write more later! Ciao for now!Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-65554778916196590592007-09-02T13:15:00.001-05:002007-09-02T13:15:05.084-05:00I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-38176586977555312382007-09-02T13:11:00.000-05:002007-09-02T13:13:15.867-05:00I wanna dance with somebodyIf you know me then you know that when I get to the buzzed/drunk stage I want to dance. Many years ago me and my friends Myrna, Randy and Joe would go out and drink till we could barley stand then we would dance all night sweating it all out so we could drink some more. This was a weekend thing and we always had a blast, back then I weighed much less too. I wonder if there was a connection Humm…..
Well if you know me then you know my partner and you know he is not much on dancing, he loves people watching. Now and again when the music is either a sway to and fro slow or a loud and crazy dance mix I can coax him out on the floor to get lost in the crowd.

Last night after several drinks and shots poured by David our favorite bartender I began to feel my toes begin to tap! That’s when I begin to pester my partner trying to get him out on the floor.
After a couple hours and a couple more drinks I was able to get him out on the floor only because the Reba/Kelly song ended with the smooth transition into Kelly’s because of you dance mix. The floor was instantly crowded with gyrating people and I decided we needed to be in the middle of the floor.
Although people here don’t dance the same as back home in Dallas I had a wonderful time. I was able to keep him on the floor for several songs when it was decided that it was time to go. After all the moving and shaking on the dance floor not to mention the sweating out of the alcohol I came home and slept like a baby. A great time was had by all and I can’t wait to dance some more.Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-59868047197667938572007-08-28T20:08:00.001-05:002007-08-28T20:08:20.037-05:00It's Not Right, But Its Ok

Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-49890444269511845502007-08-28T19:41:00.000-05:002007-08-28T19:55:41.357-05:00It's not right but it's ok
Earl Campbell’s and Mahatma Rice.....

As you may have read my partner and I recently moved from Dallas to Chicago for business reasons. We love Chi-Town however there are many things that take adjusting to... The feeling that every time you step out of you home you in a scene from sex in the city, The mild summer weather, The Cab’s The differences in one neighborhood to the next and then there is the Food!

To be completely honest I was almost of the verge of packing my bags and moving back to Texas over the grocery stores not carrying Earl Campbell’s hot links, not to mention Hot links Period!
There is an abundance of sweet Italian sausage, hot Italian sausage, brats and smoked sausage, but still no hot links!

We went to a BBQ restaurant a couple weeks ago that advertised a wonderful “hot link Sandwich”….It was a long weenie with BBQ sauce on it (gag).

I was traveling last week and was able to catch up with some friends in Phoenix. When I asked Julio is there anything you can’t find here that you’re used to in Dallas? He replied yes as a matter of fact he can’t find Mahatma Rice anywhere and is planning on bringing some back on his next visit to Dallas.

I find it funny that large metropolitan cities like Chicago and Phoenix don’t carry all the tried and true brands of food products that people like me want. Especially since these cities were built on people moving here from other states.

Maybe I need to lodge a protest against our local food chain! (Picture this) me carrying a white picket sign with a picture of a juicy hot link on it, Do you think that will garner any attention?

I should mention that Chi-Town has some of the best food I have ever had. There are specialties here that you just can’t get anywhere else however hot links is not one of them…
Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624199831185201079.post-71538992980881492672007-08-25T18:15:00.000-05:002007-08-26T10:06:22.151-05:00Around the world in 6 daysAfter much prodding by me BFF (sportsnutindallas), this is my first official attempt at this blogging this so please be kind.

Late last night I got home from a business trip that took me from Chicago to Dallas, Houston then to Phoenix. I am exhausted and very happy to be home. I missed my husband more than I can say. I also missed sleeping in my bed fighting for control with the cat.

The trip began in Dallas which was my home until about 2 months ago. I left from Ohare on Sunday and as always my flight was delayed for 2 hours. I landed and my BFF picked me up We went to his home and visited with his hubby for awhile and then proceded to my favorite bar in Dallas "the tin room" there I cought up with bar buddies that had became close friend of my husbands and I. We hung out with our favortie bartender Tony, as always his drinks are potent and after a few I got a little tipsy. We called it a early night due to a long workday ahead. I spoent the next day interviewing candidates for a position I have in the Dallas area. It was hard with the slight hangover I had from the night before. After work my friend, his husband and I all went to dinner to a newish mexican restaurant named Tradiccion "great margaritas".
Next morning it was off to Houston I guess I have gotton used to the mild summer I have had in Chicago, because when I go onto the jetway I was instantly drenched in sweat. After visiting offices I settled into my hotel and got some rest. The next morning 4am to be exact I woke up went to bush international Off to Phoneix. There I was met by one of my managers and good friends Julio. He was transferred to AZ with our company about the same time as I was sent to Chicago. Ihavn't seen him in a few months. After visiting his offices he took me to my hotel to freshen up and later he picked me up to go out with him and his gang, Including my friend Edward, Ryan and Lee. We had a great time and too many shots! After waking up with a huge hange over it was time to go into the office and go over some items with Julio and his team. I ended up spending my evening in my hotel getting some much needed rest. I knew with all the rain than Chicago had gotton it was going to be a chore getting home the next day. Sure enough at 1:30 am I got a call from AA telling me that my early morning flight had been cancelled. I had to wait until 3:30 to get a flight out. Then it was delayed anouther hour. After all is said and done it's all good because I got home. When I got home after a short wait for a cab I was transported home to David and a wonderful home cooked meal. .....and my bed!Tlalochttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11871976764700413221noreply@blogger.com3
